BioVitaWeb Product description
Especially in Asian countries, Reishi is highly appreciated, as the mushroom extract in Traditional Medicine has been thanks to the special medicinal properties successfully used for thousands of years.
The many different applications of Reishi can be attributed to a number of active substances, in which two groups of substances in particular excel. This primarily involves specific polysaccharides and triterpenes from the large family of phytochemicals.
In the Reishi extract, more than 100 different polysaccharides are very effective, including the so-called sulphated polysaccharides that can based on their activity even work preventively. These polysaccharides stabilize the human immune system in such a way that many pathogens have no chance.
The approximately 140 highly effective triterpenes found in Reishi support the body in protection against infestation by microorganisms

Latin: Ganoderma Lucidum, Polyporus lucidum
Chinese: LingZhi or Ling Zhi.

Ganoderma literally means "shiny skin" and refers to the hat of this mushroom with its shiny, leathery appearance. Lucidum wants to say shiny, shining, clear and refers to the same characteristic.

Description
Our reishi extracts delivered in capsules are made from different parts of the mushroom:
- the mushroom itself, also called the fruit body (in English: carpohole or fruiting body), which consists of the hat and the trunk.
- the spores of the mushroom (in English: spores), in broken open form.
Note: Which extract you best use and how often, depends on your goal.

The broken spores are considered to be the most concentrated, thus most effective form of Reishi. While the fruiting body of the Reishi mushroom contains a high content of certain sugars, the so-called polysaccharides, the so-called triterpenes occur in the broken spores. (The spores must be broken first because of their hard shell so that the triterpenes that are inside can be released).

To have the best of both, some extracts contain a combination of a fruit body extract (carpohole) and a broken spore extract of the Reishi mushroom.

Reishi is already mentioned in ancient Chinese medical writings, such as the Shen Nong Ben Cao (Divine Farmer's Material Medical).
The Reishi extract is mainly known in the Far East and especially in Japan because it can help the body to neutralize the negative influence of (radiation) radiation.
Reishi is an officially recognized medicine in Japan. A claim that is not allowed in the Europe, because Reishi extracts are only considered as food supplements here.

Vitamin C immune system and resistance
Vitamin C which is also known as ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in certain foods and is also available as a dietary supplement. Vitamin C is essential to us because people, unlike most animals, cannot make Vitamin C.
Vitamin C is necessary for the biosynthesis of collagen, L-carnitine and certain neurotransmitters. Vitamin C is also part of the metabolism of proteins. Collagen is an essential part of our connective tissue and plays an important role in the healing of wounds. Vitamin C is also an active antioxidant that has been shown to be able to renew other antioxidants in the body, such as alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E).
Current studies are trying to determine whether vitamin C can play a role in helping to prevent certain cancers, cardiovascular diseases and other disorders in which oxidative stress plays a causal role by limiting the harmful effects of free radicals. In addition to the biosynthetic and antioxidant functions, vitamin C plays an important role in the immune system and improves the absorption of iron present in plant foods.

Insufficient intake of vitamin C can cause scurvy. Scurvy is characterized by fatigue, widespread connective tissue weakness and capillary fragility, but does not occur in the Western world anymore because we get enough vitamin C daily in our standard diet.
The total body content of vitamin C varies from 300 mg (a level at which scurvy can occur up to about 2 grams.) Vitamin C is mainly found in the cells and tissues, most commonly in leukocytes (white blood cells), eyes, adrenal glands, pituitary gland and brain. Relatively low levels of vitamin C (micro molar concentrations) are present in extracellular fluids, such as plasma, red blood cells, and saliva.

Vitamin C increases as seen in the iron intake and thus promotes:
- Normal energy supplying metabolism (metabolism).
- Normal, therefore, good functioning of the nervous system.
- Normal psychological function (knowing, feeling, striving and the behaviour of people).
- Reducing fatigue and tiredness.
- Renewal of the active form of vitamin E.
- Protection of cells against oxidative stress.
